Mission of the Institute

The Mission of the Juvenile Justice Institute is to influence juvenile justice policy and practices by providing research, technical assistance and information about resources to juvenile justice and related agencies and the community-at-large.

Goals and Objectives

The primary goal of the Institute is the promotion and exchange of information and resource development that will facilitate the prevention, intervention and reduction of juvenile crime in North Carolina.

Objectives

The Institute has six main objectives.

1. Compile and disseminate information about State and national best practices in the field
2. Upon request, provide technical experience for small not-for-profit organizations/groups
3. Survey the public and special interest groups about juvenile justice program effectiveness
4. At least semi-annually, distribute a newsletter to inform those interested in juvenile justice issues
5. Provide a training ground for criminal justice majors.
6. Serve as a resource to the academic community, providing information about current programs an practices.
